Samsung Headquarters
The building was client-owned, as a result of a lease ending at their old property, which needed extensive refurbishment. It had been unoccupied previously for 2 years and required a new interior to match its new modern residence.
Samsung wanted to refresh the building so that it would be ready for its employees by 2021 and to ensure that it would match the requirements demanded of a European Headquarters. However, they also wanted to ensure that their new building could become a marketing hub, by including a model home within its walls that could demonstrate the use of its various appliances.
The Refurbishment
This was a full CAT A and B refurbishment with structural alterations, which included a complete renewal of mechanical and electrical systems. The client required multiple meeting rooms, which had to be designed for soundproofing via the use of acoustic absorbent materials. They required a full-scale home model for marketing, including fully equipped
kitchen, living and dining areas.
We refurbished and fitted out the entire building, providing brand new furniture that would provide a comfortable and practical working space built for collaboration. We are very proud to have delivered a smart and contemporary interior, fitting for the reputation of our client.
The Challenges
Due to the onset of COVID during primary stages of the refurbishment, we faced numerous risks which could have had a dramatic impact on cost and programme. Despite this, we continued to make consistent progress due to strong relationships with our suppliers and subcontractors, allowing us to meet the schedule proposed within budget.
